 Parental Advisory Group

Prepare parents to be effective partners in the education system and community advocacy. Parents learn how schools run, develop effective communication tools, understand the accountability systems in their state while creating their own leadership plan to reduce barriers to learning at home, school or in their community.

Mobilize parents to support public education and improve public schools for all children.

Educate parents and communities about the importance and impact of parental engagement.

Membership and Leadership Development

Increase the numbers, provide the knowledge and develop the skills of engaged parents to improve public schools.

HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO IT?

​

Gather a group of 15-20 Cape Verdean parents who care about improving the system and making their voices heard.

First meeting December 9th around 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. 

MEETINGS WILL CONSIST OF

PROGRAM PROVIDES

 A route to connect parents within the community.

 A safe place to obtain answers to questions regarding their child's educational needs and safety.

  A link to educational resources.

   A way to unite and hold a school district accountable for the best public education for their children.

  A path to empower parents to educate themselves on issues and policies that can impact our children's futures.

 The courage to fight the status quo in public education.

Educate parents and community about the current School system.

​Educate parents on education policies and how those policies relate to their child.

​Hear their concerns and questions

Support and expand all choices in education through awareness and community involvement.

​Educate parents on how to use meaningful data and analysis to help them make informed decisions about their child’s education.

​Educate them on how they can make their voices heard by attending events and asking questions and/or making demands

Support parents in their advocacy for high quality student achievement.
